About The Position

Auto-Owners Insurance, a top-rated insurance carrier, is seeking a motivated individual to join our Claims department as a Bodily Injury Claims Representative. The position requires the person to assemble facts, determine coverage, evaluate the amount of loss, analyze legal liability, make payments in accordance with coverage, damage and liability determination, and perform other functions or duties to properly adjust the loss. This role involves studying insurance policies, endorsements, and forms to develop an understanding of insurance coverage, following claims handling procedures, and participating in claim negotiations and settlements. The representative will deliver a high level of customer service to agents, insureds, and others, devising alternative approaches to provide appropriate service dependent upon the circumstances. This role may require meeting with people involved with claims, sometimes outside of the office environment, and handling investigations by telephone, email, mail, and on-site. Maintaining appropriate adjuster’s license(s) if required by statute, handling complex and unusual exposure claims effectively through on-site investigations and participation in mediations, settlement conferences, and trials, and handling confidential information according to Company standards are also key responsibilities. The position also involves assisting in the evaluation and selection of outside counsel and maintaining punctual attendance at a Company approved work location. Applications are accepted on an ongoing basis, and while an open position may not be available at this time, Auto-Owners offers a merit-based work-from-home program based on job responsibilities, with potential flexibility after initial in-person training.
