About The Position

CEDA is looking to hire Boat Operators for multiple projects across Canada within our Tailings Management & Environmental Solutions division. We are looking to build our candidate pool and identify available personnel to support anticipated projects throughout August and September! This position is ideal for someone who is mechanically inclined, and has experience operating boats in an industrial environment. Requirements

  • Experience operating boats in an industrial environment is required
  • Marine Emergency Duties (A1 or A3) licence required
  • Small Vessel Operator (SVOP) training required
  • Valid Class 5 licence with a clean abstract
  • Valid ECS CSO certification (or combination of CSTS-09 and OSSA Regional or BSO)
  • Able to work independently in a busy environment
  • Comfortable working around water
  • Able to provide a negative pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Computers are your friend, not your enemy
  • Perform physically demanding work - able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis
  • Work outdoors in harsh weather conditions
  • Happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with your coworkers and getting the job done safely

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with pumps or dredging is an asset
  • Experience working around tailings operations is an asset

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate boats and support vessels for dredging, transportation, and project-related activities.
  • Transport personnel, equipment, tools, and materials to and from dredging and remote work locations.
  • Assist dredging crews with positioning equipment, pipeline inspections, and operational support activities.
  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and routine maintenance of vessels and marine equipment.
  • Monitor weather, water, and site conditions to ensure safe vessel operations.
  • Maintain vessel logs, inspection records, and operational reports.
  • Assist with fluid management, pumping operations, and dredging support activities as required.
  • Ensure compliance with marine regulations, company policies, and project safety standards.
  • Identify and report mechanical issues, hazards, or unsafe conditions and assist with corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety meetings, emergency response drills, and environmental protection initiatives.
  • Support general site operations and equipment movements as required.
