The Boardwalk Art Show & Special Events Internship is a short-term role that supports the Marketing & Special Events team by assisting with a range of creative, strategic, and logistical tasks. This role will support the museum’s efforts to broaden engagement and deepen connections with audiences both locally and nationally. The intern will also help identify potential opportunities that drive attendance, increase participation, and promote the Virginia MOCA mission in the cultural landscape. A major project for the summer term will be contributing to the planning, preparation and execution of the Boardwalk Art Show (BWAS), one of the museum’s signature annual events. The intern will be required to attend all three days of the show, assisting the team as needed. Outside of BWAS, the intern will collaborate across departments to help plan, promote, and execute various museum programs and events throughout the summer term. Interns will gain an understanding of overall museum operations as they support administrative and organizational needs surrounding events. This role is ideal for someone who has an interest in marketing, event promotion and coordination, as well as an interest in contemporary art.
