About The Position

Oakhurst Veterinary Hospital is hiring a full-time Boarding and Kennel Assistant to support veterinarians, technicians, and support staff in providing animals with care during their stay. The role involves monitoring animal health and comfort, feeding and exercising animals, maintaining clean housing and preparation areas, administering medications, and assisting with boarding check-in and check-out. The ideal candidate is enthusiastic, reliable, passionate about animal well-being, and committed to high standards of animal care and customer service. The position offers a 40-hour work week, including weekends and holidays. Pay is $15.00–$16.00 per hour, dependent on experience. Responsibilities

Monitor animals’ health and comfort, recognize and respond to emergencies, and report health concerns.
Document treatments, activities, and observations.
Walk dogs in all weather conditions.
Feed dogs and cats and provide fresh water on schedule.
Clean dishes, bowls, litter boxes, kennels, and cages.
Replace soiled bedding and handle laundry tasks.
Bathe animals as needed before discharge.
Perform general housekeeping in animal housing, food preparation, and laundry areas.
Administer oral and topical medications, including flea and tick treatments.
Assist with boarding patient check-in and check-out, including proper labeling and ID collars.
Identify and alleviate stress in boarding animals through interactive play and mental stimulation.
