Seasonal Assistant – secretarial position to serve with the Board of Equalization & assist in facilitating hearings Examples of Duties, Under general supervision, you will: Help prepare BOE cases: receive and process documents, vet all incoming information, provide information and assistance to the public. Prepare and mail notices Review incoming and outgoing documents for completeness and accuracy, process documents for filing as required under DOR and Administrator’s rules and perform data entry. Respond to telephone and in-person inquiries regarding BOE procedures, from attorneys and the public using effective communication and customer service skills. Sitting in hearings – taking notes as requested by any party (case by case) Acting as official notary during proceedings Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED Customer Service and/or Office experience preferred but not required Have a working knowledge in using various computer applications, including Microsoft Office Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. multiple times per day Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as well as having reliable transportation Certified notary is preferred but not required (clerk’s office can help facilitate however applicant must be Effingham resident) Upon hiring, must be able to obtain a Notary Public Certification (which will be issued by the Clerk of Courts of applicant’s residents and paid for by this office) During emergencies and disasters affecting Effingham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team. As a member of this office and an employee of Effingham County, all positions are subject to random drug testing. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. multiple times per day
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, as well as having reliable transportation
  • Upon hiring, must be able to obtain a Notary Public Certification (which will be issued by the Clerk of Courts of applicant’s residents and paid for by this office)
  • As a member of this office and an employee of Effingham County, all positions are subject to random drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Customer Service and/or Office experience preferred but not required
