About The Position

The foundation is seeking a US-based Board Director to join its small board and contribute to its responsible governance and development. The foundation is a US-based charitable organization operating a donor-advised fund and is part of an international philanthropic group. This is an active, voluntary, unpaid appointment focused on long-term charitable impact, responsible grant-making, financial stewardship, and governance. Reasonable expenses are reimbursed. Directors review and approve charitable grants, oversee compliance, consider financial and investment matters, and help ensure the foundation operates in accordance with its charitable purpose and applicable US requirements. Board members are expected to review materials, attend meetings consistently, respond to requests within agreed timeframes, and exercise independent judgment. The organization is developing its governance processes and operational framework, so the director should be comfortable working pragmatically in an evolving environment. The appointment is remote within the United States and requires US citizenship or permanent residency and current US residence. The commitment is approximately three hours per month, plus occasional document reviews and approvals. Quarterly virtual meetings are generally scheduled during UK working hours (usually morning in the US); meetings may be more frequent during the foundation’s early development. The term is three years and renewable. Appointment is subject to standard identity and background checks and approval under the foundation’s governing documents. Depending on the appointment, a director may also serve as an officer, potentially acting as an authorized signatory on the foundation’s US bank account and completing required identity verification. The foundation’s investment approach may include gold, silver, copper, Bitcoin, and other hard assets. Directors need not be investment specialists, but must be comfortable engaging thoughtfully with the approach and its associated opportunities, risks, and governance considerations.

Requirements

  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident currently living in the United States.
  • Able to attend scheduled meetings, review documentation, and return approvals and signatures within agreed timeframes.

  • Able to consider information objectively, ask relevant questions, and make decisions in the best interests of a charitable organization.
  • Understands nonprofit board responsibilities or is willing and able to develop the necessary knowledge.
  • Able to act independently, identify potential conflicts of interest, and comply with governance requirements.
  • Comfortable working with a small team in an evolving environment requiring flexibility and practical problem-solving.
  • Available for virtual meetings generally scheduled during UK working hours, usually morning in the United States.
  • Willing to participate actively rather than serve in a purely advisory or honorary capacity.
  • Subject to standard identity and background checks and approval under the foundation’s governing documents.

  • Participate in discussions about managing, stewarding, and preserving the foundation’s assets over the long term.
  • Consider the opportunities and risks of the investment approach and endowment model, and contribute to financial oversight and responsible asset stewardship.
  • Help ensure investment decisions receive appropriate scrutiny within the foundation’s governance framework.
  • Work constructively within a small board, bringing structure and clarity where helpful without unnecessary bureaucracy.
  • Support the foundation’s development by contributing ideas, asking constructive questions, and helping strengthen governance as it grows.
