About The Position

Arizona Canine Orthopedics & Sports Medicine (ACOSM) is seeking an ACVS board-certified veterinary surgeon (or residency-trained surgeon nearing board certification) to join our growing team as we expand into a 4-surgeon specialty practice. This is a rare opportunity to join an established, orthopedics-exclusive referral hospital dedicated to advancing veterinary orthopedic surgery. As we continue investing in our team, technology, and infrastructure, you'll have the opportunity to focus on increasingly complex and rewarding cases alongside three experienced, ACVS board-certified surgeons. ACOSM is dedicated exclusively to orthopedics, including developmental and trauma orthopedics, acquired degenerative conditions, limb deformity, arthroscopy, fracture fixation, complex reconstructive surgery, and joint replacement — with a strong emphasis on total hip arthroplasty. Every case that comes through the door, every piece of equipment, every hire, and every protocol exists in service of this focus. We take on challenging orthopedic cases that other practices may decline. This reputation is something our surgeons are proud of and protective of — and it’s central to what we’re building as we grow to a four-surgeon specialty practice. ACOSM combines the strengths of private specialty practice with academic collaboration, creating an environment where surgeons can focus on advanced clinical medicine while also pursuing research, publication, teaching, mentorship, and professional education. Exceptional communication is part of how we practice medicine. New-patient consultations are structured to provide meaningful time with the surgeon — reviewing imaging, discussing treatment and surgical options, explaining procedures and recovery, and providing thoughtful postoperative follow-up. It's an important part of why clients and referring veterinarians trust ACOSM with challenging cases. Work alongside experienced surgeons, technicians, support staff, industry experts, and key opinion leaders in an environment that encourages case discussion, shared learning, mentorship, and continuous clinical advancement. We're looking for a surgeon who wants to contribute to that vision, help advance the practice, and build something meaningful over the long term — not simply fill a surgical position.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or VMD degree from an AVMA-accredited college
• Active Arizona veterinary license in good standing (or ability to obtain)
• ACVS board-certified veterinary surgeon or residency-trained surgeon nearing board certification
• Passion for advanced orthopedic surgery and sports medicine
• Collaborative mindset with enthusiasm for mentoring and lifelong learning
• Enthusiasm for contributing to the continued growth and future of ACOSM
