About The Position

We are seeking a Board Certified Urology Physician to provide comprehensive urologic care onsite at Martinsburg VA Medical Center. This role supports the Department of Veterans Affairs by delivering high-quality outpatient, inpatient, surgical, and on-call services to Veterans in accordance with VA clinical standards.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Urology residency (minimum 3 years urologic surgery training)
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Urology through the American Board of Urology
  • Active, full, and unrestricted medical license in any U.S. state or territory
  • No history of revoked, suspended, or restricted licensure
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications
  • CME requirements must be current
  • Must successfully complete VA credentialing and privileging in accordance with VHA directives
  • Strong clinical and surgical urology expertise
  • Ability to manage a high-volume patient population
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and respond to urgent clinical needs
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Nice To Haves

  • Robotics, laparoscopic, and highly complex urologic surgeries are not required.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and manage urology patients in clinic and inpatient settings
  • Perform cystoscopy and minor urologic procedures
  • Manage prostate conditions (including TURP procedures), bladder cancer, kidney stones and ureteral conditions, and scrotal and testicular conditions
  • Conduct inpatient rounding for urology patients
  • Perform general urologic surgeries, including ureteral and endoscopic procedures, prostate and bladder surgeries, and kidney-related procedures
  • Utilize specialized equipment such as Holmium laser, ESWL (Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy), and Fluoroscopy
  • Conduct Compensation & Pension (C&P) exams for urologic conditions
  • Perform Agent Orange–related urology evaluations
  • Communicate test results in accordance with VA policy
  • Address critical results within 60 minutes
  • Ensure accurate documentation and patient notification
  • Coordinate discharge planning and continuity of care
  • Adhere to all VA clinical policies and procedures
  • Complete consults and patient encounters in a timely manner
  • Participate in required VA training and compliance programs
  • Maintain proficiency with VA EMR/EHR systems
