About The Position

Adventurous Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon Wanted for a Diverse Caseload and Amazing Work-Life Balance at the Veterinary Specialty Center of Newfoundland and Labrador. Veterinary Specialty Center of Newfoundland & Labrador (“VSCNL”) is seeking a Board-Certified Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon, to join the enthusiastic team at the only emergency and referral center in the province. VSCNL is located just outside St. John’s, Newfoundland and offers emergency care alongside surgical, rehabilitation, internal medicine and diagnostic imaging. You will have the opportunity to work on a diverse and challenging caseload as VSCNL is the only specialty center in Newfoundland and Labrador and is an ocean away from the nearest center on mainland Canada. The Veterinary Specialty Centre of Newfoundland and Labrador was originally founded to make sure that no pet owner would have to leave the province to get the proper care their pet needs. We offer chemotherapy, run a canine blood donor program and have the only ICU that is fully staffed 24 hours a day. When it comes to diagnosing and treating the pets of Newfoundland and Labrador, we are there for them every day! We are currently expanding our facility with additional growth for services to be added in the future. Through our comprehensive approach, we are able to provide the opportunity to practice gold standard medicine. As an emergency and referral hospital, our emergency department handles an exciting and diverse caseload, inspiring lifelong learning and growth. Requirements

  • Board certification as a veterinary surgeon (SA) or board eligible
  • Licensed (or eligibility) to practice veterinary medicine in Newfoundland and Labrador
  • A strong desire to educate and build solid relationships with clients
  • Outstanding communication skills, especially when dealing with clients
  • Ability and willingness to work closely and effectively with the entire VSCNL team
  • Enthusiasm, energy and a positive attitude are a must
  • Passion for what you do every day

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the surgical support team of highly skilled Registered Veterinary Technicians and assistants.
