About The Position

Physician will provide full spectrum outpatient primary care in a patient-centered medical home model. This position will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team with the goal of providing comprehensive, family oriented, culturally sensitive continuity of care for each patient.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited member of the Association of American Medical Colleges with a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine Degree.
  • Completion of residency in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, and Board Certified by either the American Board of Family Medicine or the American Board of Internal Medicine. (Current residents may apply and be hired provisionally but will be expected to take and pass Board Exams at the earliest opportunity).
  • Wisconsin license to practice medicine, in good standing.
  • Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) license, in good standing.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
  • Must obtain a Wisconsin's driver's license within thirty days of employment if applicant has an out-of-state driver's license.
  • Must be authorized as eligible to operate a personal and Tribal vehicle under the Red Cliff Tribe's Vehicle Drivers Policy prior to actual start date.
  • Must maintain driver's eligibility as a condition of employment.

  • Experience working with AI/AN communities is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver patient care in a responsible, culturally sensitive, respectful and caring manner; provide medical screening, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and prevention services in an outpatient clinic.
  • Document all patient visits no less than 72 hours following the patient visit using the Intergy electronic health record.
  • Order or execute various tests; analyze reports and findings; administer or prescribe treatment and medications.
  • Refer patients to medical specialists or other practitioners for specialized treatment when the patient's medical needs are beyond the limits of the medical facility and/or beyond the scope of the medical provider.
  • Maintain hospital courtesy privileges and a working relationship with the local hospital/nursing home.
  • Follow up on laboratory tests and coordinate communication with patients regarding results.
  • Coordinate care for patients with Behavioral Health, Physical Therapy, Dental, Chiropractic, Optometry and Community Health.
  • Assist in maintaining Health Center Policies and Procedures manual.
  • Develop standing orders for the Registered Nurse, Public Health Nurse and other medical support staff to facilitate their functions when Physician is not on site.
  • Serve on committees and meetings that enhance patient care and professional growth to include, Managed Care; Interdisciplinary Review Board (IRB) and monthly clinic meeting.
  • Assist in implementing quality improvement measures in appropriate service areas.
  • Maintain a working relationship with other RCCHC providers and participate in utilization review as needed.
  • Serve as medical consultant to the Health Center Administrator and Tribal Council in planning for improved community health.
  • Participate in in-service programs to increase awareness of current and specific problems, diagnoses and treatment issues concerning the clinic’s patients.
  • Attend meetings and in-services and any other events as specified by immediate supervisor.
  • Responsible for positive representation of RCCHC staff, programs, and services.
  • Exemplify personal conduct which reflects an role model.
  • Establish and maintain a cooperative relationship with patients/customers, health providers, hospitals and clinics, and employees of the RCCHC.
  • Adhere to and support facility policies, programs, and activities.
  • Demonstrate tact, courtesy and a positive approach to communication and interaction with other employees, visitors, providers, and others.
  • Responsible for personal development to ensure current knowledge and skills are maintained in the profession.
  • Maintain membership in appropriate professional organizations.
  • Keep medical licensure and/or registration current and provide verification per credentialing policy.
  • Identify personal and professional areas for improvement and actively seek out ways to meet personal developmental needs.
