About The Position

The Board Certified Dermatologist provides medical, procedural, and preventive dermatologic care to patients at Clear Choice Dermatology clinics in Oregon. The role diagnoses and treats conditions of the skin, hair, and nails; performs in-office procedures; and provides clinical leadership to the care team, including supervising or collaborating with Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as required by Oregon law. The Dermatologist performs examinations and skin cancer screenings, orders and interprets diagnostic tests, develops treatment plans, prescribes therapies, and provides patient education. The position also involves accurate EHR documentation, timely review and communication of pathology results, compliant coding and billing support, quality-measure participation, and adherence to clinical and regulatory policies. Work is in an outpatient dermatology clinic, with possible assignments or coverage at multiple Oregon locations and occasional travel or extended hours based on patient needs.

Requirements

MD or DO degree from an accredited institution.
Completion of an accredited dermatology residency.
Active board certification in dermatology from the American Board of Dermatology or American Osteopathic Board of Dermatology.
Active, unrestricted Oregon medical license issued by the Oregon Medical Board, or ability to obtain it before the start date.
Active DEA registration for Oregon, or ability to obtain it before the start date.
Current BLS certification.
Ability to be credentialed with CCD's contracted insurance plans.
Strong clinical judgment and knowledge of dermatologic conditions and treatments.
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Ability to lead and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team, including supervising advanced practice providers.
Commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care.
Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods; perform procedures requiring fine motor skills and manual dexterity; and occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
Correctable visual acuity sufficient for close examination of skin and use of a dermatoscope.
Compliance with PPE and OSHA protocols when exposed to potential bloodborne pathogens, infectious materials, and sharps.

Prior experience in a dermatology practice; new residency graduates are welcome to apply.
Proficiency with EHR documentation; EMA / Modernizing Medicine is preferred.

Responsibilities

Examine the skin, hair, and nails, including performing full-body skin cancer screenings.
Diagnose and treat dermatologic conditions, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, rosacea, infections, and benign, premalignant, and malignant lesions.
Order and interpret biopsies, cultures, laboratory tests, and pathology reports.
Develop individualized treatment plans and prescribe topical, oral, systemic, and biologic therapies.
Perform in-office procedures, including shave and punch biopsies, excisions, cryotherapy, ED&C, and intralesional injections; refer patients for Mohs surgery when indicated.
Provide cosmetic services when trained, credentialed, and offered at the assigned clinic.
Supervise or collaborate with assigned Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners as required by Oregon law, including chart review and case consultation.
Provide clinical guidance to Medical Assistants and clinic staff and support training on procedures and clinical protocols.
Coordinate with Mohs surgeons, dermatopathologists, and outside specialists, and refer patients as needed.
Participate in provider meetings, peer review, and quality improvement activities.
Educate patients about diagnoses, treatment options, skin care, sun protection, and prevention.
Review and communicate biopsy and pathology results, act on them within practice timelines, and ensure patients with melanoma are placed on the correct recall schedule.
Document patient encounters accurately and completely in EMA / Modernizing Medicine and close charts within CCD timelines.
Select accurate diagnosis and procedure codes to support compliant billing and respond promptly to coding queries.
Support MIPS and quality measures, including biopsy follow-up, melanoma recall, and referral loop closure.
Follow HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and CCD clinical policies and protocols.
Stay current with advances in dermatology and complete continuing medical education required for licensure and board certification.
Arrive prepared to begin the scheduled clinic template on time and complete and sign documentation within practice-established timelines.
Maintain active Oregon medical licensure, board certification, and DEA registration, and notify HR / Credentialing of any change in status.
Complete required CCD trainings, including HIPAA and OSHA, by assigned due dates.
