The BCBA will collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support student learning and contribute to a positive school environment. Responsibilities also include participating in professional development opportunities and attending meetings as needed to support students, academic programs, and overall school initiatives. Requirements

  • Must be Board Certified as BCBA
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills and the ability to relate well with students, staff, administration, parents and the community.
  • Must be able to assist in the protection of students and school property, and assist in fire and other emergencies or emergency drills as required by law and School Committee policy.
  • The ability to work onsite in district schools and buildings is an essential function of this job.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluates students to determine individual student needs
  • Attends Team meetings and writes behavior goals and objectives for IEPs
  • Engage in collaborative efforts to collect and analyze a variety of classroom-level quantitative and qualitative data in order to provide targeted instruction and monitor and support student progress toward instructional goals within a Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
  • Develops and oversees ABA programming
  • Conducts initial and ongoing training for ABA technicians
  • Collects data from Instructional Assistants and charts student progress
  • Conducts Instructional Assistant training and implementation of BIPs
  • Conducts parent consultation and/or trainings
  • Completes Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), and writes Behavior Intervention Plans (BIP)
  • Trains and supports staff to complete FBAs and implement BIPs
  • Provides consultation and/or professional development for faculty as needed
  • Assists the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner
  • Makes provision for being available to students and parents for education-related purposes outside the instructional day when required or requested to do so
  • Continues with personal professional development
  • Attends staff meetings and serves on staff committees as required
