Each level includes structured mentorship, clear expectations, and a gradual increase in independence and caseload. Apprentice BCBA A short-term, preparatory role for new BCBAs. Apprentices provide direct services under close supervision, support case activities, and receive weekly mentorship to prepare for independent caseload management. Resident BCBA (Levels 1–3) Residents deliver full BCBA services—assessment, treatment planning, staff training, parent training, and collaboration—primarily in a clinic setting. Resident BCBA Level Progression: As you advance from Level 1 to Level 3, you gradually take on more cases and larger scheduled hours, while direct-service requirements decrease: Level 1: 1–3 cases; 40–65 scheduled hours; ABC provides up to 20 direct hours Level 2: 3–4 cases; up to 130 scheduled hours; up to 10 direct hours provided Level 3: 5–6 cases; 131–199 scheduled hours; direct hours only for call-outs Attending BCBA (Levels 1–3) Attending BCBAs perform the same core responsibilities as Residents, with increased autonomy, leadership expectations, and higher caseload capacity.
