About The Position

Gateway Pediatric Therapy is expanding its programs to include community-based behavioral treatment services through its Behavior Management Services (BMS) Program. This program offers community-based work with clients diagnosed with serious mental illness and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities. Clients may be children or adults who engage in challenging behavior that pose health and safety risks or have the potential to interfere with quality of life. The program focuses on delivering evidence-based caregiver and staff training to individuals overseeing care, who then implement behavior support plan recommendations with clinician monitoring and guidance. BCBAs in this role act as consultants, conducting training and monitoring visits based on client progress and medical necessity. They also develop, train, and monitor restrictive or intrusive interventions after obtaining necessary approvals. Collaboration with other members of the client’s treatment team is essential. Gateway Pediatric Therapy emphasizes a person-centered approach and provides administrative and clinical support to its BCBAs, including intake scheduling, report review, billing, administrative support, and supervision from experienced management.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, or related field, required
  • Certification and licensure in Behavior Analysis and approved to supervise students as needed
  • Demonstrates strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills
  • One or more years in a supervisory, leadership, or management role
  • One or more years experience developing behavior treatment plans, with preference to individuals with experience developing and presenting plans to behavior treatment committees (BTCs)
  • No criminal history precluding employment under federal and state law and regulations in a federal or state program
  • Reliable transportation and willingness to drive for work (travel to and from client houses is required)
  • Availability of 2-3 evenings per week (two for part time, three for full time)
  • At least two years of computer experience – Word, Excel, Outlook

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with the assessment and treatment of severe behavior (preferred)
  • Familiar with the model of consultative behavior treatment planning (preferred)
  • Two years experience in behavioral health setting where evidence based practices and applied behavior analytic techniques are utilized (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Creating appropriate programming for the client based upon the results from initial and ongoing assessments, needs of the client, as well as provide support utilizing best ethical practices
  • Implement treatment to clients as authorized by the insurance funder in their treatment plan
  • Maintain clinical requirements for behavior treatment plan monitoring per insurance funder’s credentialing requirements or community mental health organization in addition to the specifications listed within Gateway policies and procedures
  • Conduct initial and ongoing client assessments, and based upon these assessments, design and maintain top quality treatment programs, which align with Gateway policies/procedures and organizational philosophy/mission
  • Update behavior treatment plans based off results of ongoing evaluation and in collaboration with relevant stakeholders and overseeing agencies (e.g., BTC)
  • Deliver high quality caregiver training to parents, guardians, foster workers, grandparents, etc
  • Deliver high quality staff training with community living supports (CLS) staff and Adult Foster Care (AFC) staff
  • Developing plans and interventions using person centered planning and while exercising cultural competency
  • Collaborate with outside professionals from other disciplines (e.g., therapists, case managers, psychiatrists, teachers)
  • Exercise discretion and independent management of client services and supervision of treatment protocols based upon Gateway policies and procedures, and in accordance with Gateway organizational philosophy/mission
  • Determine appropriate and effective techniques to be used in implementation of goals of any treatment plans
  • Oversee and maintain accurate and organized records, client notes, data, and reports for internal and external processes
  • Prepare and attend client treatment team and educational meetings such as IEP’s and develop treatment recommendations therein
  • Maintains credentialing and licensing as required through procedures set forth by the state of Michigan and the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB)
  • Attends all required trainings, conferences, colloquium to remain in compliance with guidelines set forth within the policies and procedures of Gateway
  • Maintain client privacy in accordance with all HIPAA regulations and with Gateway policies and procedures manual
  • Work cooperatively and courteously with internal staff and outside stakeholders including school personnel and administration, outside service providers, and any and all other persons whom they may come into contact with
  • Maintain the highest standards of professionalism in all of their client and staff interactions
  • Reports directly to the Director of Behavior Management Services and the Senior Regional Director of Macomb/Wayne Regions.
