About The Position

Peraton, an industry leader in Cyber, Digital Transformation, Cloud, Operations, and Engineering, is seeking a Blue Team Engineer to provide critical cybersecurity engineering support for the research, testing, and development of advanced military systems. As cyber threats continue to evolve, embedding robust security from the very beginning is essential. In this role, you will analyze cybersecurity risks for next-generation military technologies, design and implement secure system architectures, conduct rigorous system testing and validation, maintain cybersecurity protections across the full system lifecycle, and evaluate and strengthen the security posture of legacy systems to ensure resilience against emerging threats. This position is fully on-site at Dam Neck, Virginia Beach, VA. As a Blue Team Engineer (VMware Systems) at Peraton, you will provide On-site Representative (OSR) support to NSWCDD DNA by providing administrative and technical support. You will analyze cybersecurity risks in military systems to identify vulnerabilities and recommend mitigation strategies, design and implement secure architectures to prevent cyber attacks and unauthorized access, perform Testing & Evaluation (T&E) on systems to identify weaknesses and enhance security controls, maintain and enforce cybersecurity measures throughout the entire system lifecycle, and evaluate and enhance the security of legacy systems to ensure continued compliance and protection. You will apply advanced cybersecurity frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and MITRE D3FEND to strengthen defense mechanisms. You will conduct vulnerability assessments using tools such as the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) and remediate findings by implementing vendor patches across Linux and Windows environments. You will design, implement, configure, and enforce security controls on networks, hardware, and software components. You will stay updated on emerging threats and provide threat intelligence insights to enhance system security. You will design and define system architecture for new or existing computer systems and coordinate system development to include design, modeling, security, integration, and formal testing. You will also design, configure, and troubleshoot server, storage, and application architectures, including VMware ESX Family of Server Software Products such as ESXi 7 and 8, VCenter, and Horizons (VDI).

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree and minimum of 10 years of relevant experience. Additional 4 years in lieu of degree requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with VMware ESX Family of Server Software
  • VMware Horizon VDI solution.
  • DoD 8570.01-M Baseline Certification, minimum IAT Level III, in accordance with DFARS 252.239-7001.
  • Any one of the following is acceptable (must be able to obtain within 60 days from start date): CASP CE/ SecurityX CCNP Security CISA CISSP (or Associate) GCED GCIH CCSP
  • A combined total of ten (10) years of full-time professional experience in the following areas: System hardening to protect against cyber threats.
  • Networking and virtualization technologies.
  • Frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK or MITRE D3FEND
  • Threat Intelligence and identifying emerging potential threats;
  • Performing vulnerability assessments with the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution tool;
  • Remediating vulnerability findings to include implementing vendor patches on both Linux and Windows Operating system
  • Design, implementation, configuration, and enforcement of security controls on network, hardware, and software components and devices.
  • Active Top Secret or higher with SCI eligibility.
  • Current U.S. Passport or ability to obtain prior to start

  • Bachelor of Science in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering.
