About The Position

The Blow Molding Mechanic is responsible for applying technical skills and judgment to maintain and improve equipment operation within the Blow Molding department. This role also involves keeping the physical facility in a safe and quality-conscious manner.

Requirements

  • Requires the knowledge gained through a high school degree or the equivalent.
  • Completion of an accredited apprenticeship program or equal training.
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience.
  • Must be able to lift quantities up to 75 pounds and handle/position quantities up to 450 pounds.
  • Must be able to work in sometimes small or confined spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance and repairs to all molding equipment.
  • Perform a wide range of preventive maintenance and repair work to a variety of electromechanical devices, machinery, PLCs, HVAC, fixtures, hydraulics, pneumatic and furnishings throughout the department.
  • Maintain machines to ensure that quality product is provided to the production area.
  • Maintain work area in a safe, clean, orderly condition according to GMPs.
  • Properly dispose of used oil, oil soaked pig mats, scrap metal and unusable parts.
  • Perform Visual and Attribute bottle checks to assure Good Quality bottles are produced and supplied to Production and Deco processes.
  • Determine ways to improve efficiencies, quality and safety.
  • Perform variable checks and attribute checks and file all completed documentation as necessary.
  • Monitor and/or evaluate current or potential problems with action plans to eliminate problems.
  • Perform changeovers, PMs, Mattec selections and deduction, electric truck operation, unload storveyor contents and unclog under floor conveyors.
  • Repair and report major oil, air and water leaks.
  • Start-up and Shut down equipment and operation.
  • Track belts, investigate bottle complaints, out-of-spec adjustments, prioritize daily machine production, generate action items and retrieve ordering information.
  • Clear grinder, material and conveyor jams, report out-of-stock items.
  • Perform minor drafting, fabrication and design, and retrieve documents from Master Control.
  • Attend twice daily shift transition meetings, use log book to record operating issues and maintain good communications within shift.
  • Receive training and train new employees as needed.
  • Log daily work activities in the plant maintenance system.
  • Make calls to the Supervisor at home when necessary.
  • Demonstrate good teamwork ethics by helping others in the Molding Department.
  • Participate with others in the testing or evaluation of raw materials and equipment.
  • Provide feedback pertaining to compatibility and functionality in conjunction with the Molding Supervisor.
  • Perform a variety of cleaning including major oil, grease and water leaks.
  • Perform general cleaning after repairs are completed.
  • Perform other related duties as required.
