Night shift Blow Molding Machine Operator
About The Position
The responsibilities of a blow mold machine operator include setting up and operating blow molding equipment used to create hollow plastic products. Operator manages the production of one machine in most cases, adjust the controls, set the temperature, adjust the mandrel with the desired mold chamber, and allow the machine to create the product to the client’s specifications under a specific amount of heat and pressure. You use various hand tools, trim excess plastic material from products using knives or a bandsaw and ensure product quality by inspecting and weighing finished pieces. Other duties include regrinding extra material and any parts that are not to spec, regrinding extra material for reuse, light assembly as needed, and packing boxes with finished pieces. Blow mold operator is expected to perform minor repairs on machinery.
Requirements
- Setting up and operating blow molding equipment
- Adjusting machine controls and temperature
- Adjusting the mandrel with the desired mold chamber
- Using various hand tools
- Trimming excess plastic material from products using knives or a bandsaw
- Inspecting and weighing finished pieces to ensure product quality
- Regrinding extra material and parts not to specification for reuse
- Performing light assembly as needed
- Packing boxes with finished pieces
- Performing minor repairs on machinery
Responsibilities
- Ensuring machine is functioning safely in accordance with GMP and housekeeping standards
- Understanding of bottle quality requirements and documentation of those requirements
- Sustain efficiencies and scrap on production machines that meet company goals
- Ability to effectively communicate machine, process, quality related issues
- Effectively diagnose problems and logically troubleshoot tasks
- Comply with direction from supervisors and managers
- Perform and complete color changes when required
- Perform minor preventive maintenance to the machines during their shift
- Complete quality inspection and record them in our statistical process control software
- Mechanical and Process related troubleshooting on specific processes in the plant
