About The Position

This position is responsible for ensuring quality processes are adhered to and timely movement of products (raw and finished goods). The operator will correct malfunctions and notify supervisors or maintenance of abnormal or unusual problems. They will adjust controls or program machine consoles to produce good quality molded plastic containers as required. The role involves handling and inspecting finished product for defects and taking corrective action accordingly. The operator will read production schedules and product specifications, perform initial setup on all molding machines including resin changes and mold insert/tag changes according to schedule requirements, and start machines by setting controls according to design configuration and process sheets. They will perform first good part procedures, stop equipment, and clear jams. The role includes performing dimensional checks of molded parts in accordance with test methods, procedures, and documenting results. Daily quality control inspections and checks will be performed and documented. The operator is responsible for ensuring compliance of product quality to meet customer expectations, reviewing production schedules, and creating batch documentation and labels. They will also help train new machine operators, observe and listen to detect equipment malfunctions and take corrective action, and record all data such as weight, color, material type, insert/tag, machine cycle time, pressure, and temperature on process sheets and set-up sheets. Maintaining a clean and organized blow mold room, staying informed of the latest OSHA and related safety procedures, and ensuring all non-conforming parts are identified, isolated, quarantined, and that hold tickets are issued are also key responsibilities. The operator will participate in corrective action for all held products, keep material and product handling equipment clean, and assure all work stations are clean and organized. Relieving personnel for breaks as required and following all safety rules and procedures are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • Use and understanding of precision measuring instruments and gauges, specifications, charts and diagrams
  • Ability to accurately read measuring devices, blueprints, product specifications and test procedures
  • Good hand/eye coordination and motor skills
  • Computer skills are required, familiarity with Windows and Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong attention to detail and recordkeeping
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Experienced operating a forklift required
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. – 30 lbs.
