About The Position

The Blow Mold Operator ensures quality processes are followed and products, including raw materials and finished goods, move in a timely manner. The operator adjusts and programs machine controls to produce plastic containers to specification, inspects finished products for defects, responds to equipment malfunctions, and maintains production records. The role also involves keeping the blow mold room and workstations clean and organized, following safety procedures, and helping train new machine operators.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or equivalent experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to stand for up to 12 hours per shift.
Ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and climb.
Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Read production schedules and product specifications.
Set up molding machines, including resin changes and mold insert or tag changes, according to schedule requirements.
Start machines by setting controls according to design configurations and process sheets.
Perform the first-good-part procedure.
Stop equipment and clear jams.
Help train new machine operators.
Observe equipment for common malfunctions and take corrective action, such as making minor repairs or adjustments or contacting a supervisor.
Troubleshoot hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
Record production data—including weight, color, material type, insert or tag, machine cycle time, pressure, and temperature—on process and setup sheets.
Keep the blow mold room, material and product handling equipment, and workstations clean and organized.
Stay informed about OSHA and related safety procedures for operating departmental equipment.
Identify, isolate, and quarantine nonconforming parts and issue hold tickets.
Participate in corrective actions for held products.
Relieve personnel for breaks as required.
Follow safety rules and procedures and observe operations to help ensure a safe environment.
Perform other duties as assigned.
