Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, public relations, communications or marketing and two years of communication and marketing experience.
  • Master's degree in business, public relations, communications, or marketing will be accepted in lieu of experience.
  • Ability to work in a complex environment with multi-dimensional points of view.
  • Self-motivated, self-directed and highly organized.
  • Knowledge of marketing and communication strategies.
  • Excellent skills in oral and written communications, critical thinking and active listening.
  • Ability to work effectively in a consensus-style operation that expects and promotes teamwork.
  • Ability to inspire trust and confidence, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
  • Ability to work with multiple projects simultaneously and maintain a high degree of professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Must be located within 100 miles of the Mayo Clinic campus in Rochester, MN for quarterly on-site expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the blood banking industry is preferred.
  • Internal candidates must provide their past performance appraisals.
  • Foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency High School evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
  • DLMP employees that have been in their current lab/position less than 2 years must attach early release approval from their supervisor.
  • Non-DLMP internal applicants that have been in their current department/position for less than one year must attach early release approval from the supervisor is required.

Responsibilities

  • Initiating and implementing recruitment and retention activities to expand the blood donor base for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program.
  • Educating the community about blood donation and engaging with individuals and local organizations.
  • Assisting with strategic marketing, communication, and graphic design for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program.
  • Implementing and evaluating marketing and recruitment strategies to ensure messages are effective, accurate, and timely.
  • Networking with local businesses and organizations.
  • Pursuing community events and conference opportunities.
  • Responding to ambassador needs.
  • Creating graphic and web design material.
  • Engaging with radio and news media.
  • Creating and implementing communication and marketing plans that align with the organization's and Blood Donor Program mission.
  • Promoting a productive, collegial workplace and projecting a professional image as an ambassador for the Mayo Clinic Blood Donor Program.
  • Being proficient with social media platforms, information technology, management of databases, and internet applications while maintaining brand standards.
  • Being assigned to various projects as necessary.
  • Occasional travel.
  • Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as necessary.
