About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking individuals to join their team as Blood Collection Staff with a focus on Customer Service. This role involves assisting with all aspects of the blood collection process, including transporting and setting up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and adhering to safety procedures for collecting life-saving blood donations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required.
  • A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record is required.
  • Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
  • Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
  • Basic computer skills are required.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.
  • DOT certification is required for this role.
  • If identified for an offer, must pass applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with team members to transport and set up equipment at collection sites in local communities.
  • Create a welcoming and comfortable environment for volunteer donors.
  • Follow all safety procedures while collecting life-saving blood donations.
  • Connect with donors, listen to their stories, and help them understand the impact of their donation.
  • Collaborate with teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment for volunteer donors.
  • Ensure that the blood collected meets goals, regulatory requirements, and can be safely transfused.
  • May drive Red Cross vehicles and work with the team to set up and tear down equipment at donation sites.
