About The Position

The American Red Cross is seeking a Blood Collection CDL Driver to join their team. This role involves utilizing CDL and customer service skills to support the blood collection process. Responsibilities include transporting and setting up equipment at collection sites, creating a welcoming environment for donors, and collecting blood donations while adhering to safety procedures. The Red Cross offers paid phlebotomy training, providing an opportunity to grow healthcare skills within a humanitarian organization. This position is considered "On-Site".

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent is required
Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills are required
A current, valid driver's license with Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and a good driving record is required.
DOT certification is required, you must pass applicable DOT physical and related requirements and be able to possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration.
Physical requirements may include the ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights up and down ramps and stairs, good manual dexterity, the ability to sit or stand for long periods of time and adapt to long, irregular hours and frequent schedule changes are required.
Position may require a minimum height of 60 inches to ensure the ability to safely operate Red Cross vehicles.
Basic computer skills are required. Must be proficient with Microsoft office applications.

Nice To Haves

Experience driving large vehicles is strongly preferred.
Prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience (CNA, MA, EMT, etc.)
Prior leadership experience

Responsibilities

Safely transport blood collection equipment, setup and tear down site in collaboration with team members.
Take the time to personally connect with donors – listen to their stories and help them understand how impactful their donation is.
Collaborate with your teammates to create a welcoming and friendly environment so our volunteer donors feel comfortable coming back again and again.
Be detailed oriented all day, every day. This ensures that the blood you collect meets goals, regulatory requirements and can be safely transfused.
