About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Clinical Lab Technologist to join its blood bank team at Ascension St Thomas Midtown Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee. This role works in a high-volume, production-based environment and performs a vital component of clinical laboratory science, helping deliver quality patient care through accurate and timely test results. The schedule is second shift, Monday through Friday from 2:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., with rotating weekends. The position may require overtime or other shifts depending on business needs. External applicants are eligible for a $5,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a chemical or biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience, or an MLS degree.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Computer proficiency.
Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

ASCP or AMT certification.
At least 1 year of clinical blood bank MLS (Medical Laboratory Scientist) experience.
Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as needed.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
