About The Position

The Blender Operator is responsible for operating machinery to maximize production and efficiency. This role involves accurate completion of paperwork, lockout of equipment before set-up disassembly, and ensuring proper Quality Control release and raw material tickets. The operator will also be responsible for climbing up and down platforms, ensuring product specifications for meat blends are met, taking meat samples for fat content testing (requiring approximately 40 to 50 pounds of pressure), and performing calibration and addition of fat to meet product specifications. Good math skills and calculations are necessary. Partially used raw materials returned to the cooler must be properly ticketed. The operator must be able to communicate with the scale auger operator for meat transfer to the blender and have knowledge of proper blending procedures for all products. The ability to read and write English is required.

Responsibilities

  • Acquire a sample of meat and insert it into a stainless steel canister for testing fat content.
  • Apply approximately 40 to 50 pounds of pressure on the contents of an Anyl-Ray canister for sample preparation.
  • Perform calibration and addition of fat to meet product specification requirements.
  • Properly ticket partially used raw materials returned to the cooler.
  • Communicate with the scale auger operator for the transfer of meat to the blender.
  • Maintain knowledge of proper blending procedures for all products.
  • Strive to meet all daily ship schedules.
  • Know and follow the metal detector policy and proper handling of product.
  • Keep the packing equipment and work area in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Maintain knowledge of how to keep the area clean.
  • Have an up-to-date inventory of packing supplies.
  • Follow sanitation procedures.
  • Be willing to rotate jobs.
  • Understand and follow good manufacturing practices.
  • Understand and follow safety guidelines.
  • Understand and follow lockout/tag out procedures.
  • Perform other jobs as assigned.
