About The Position

Candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical; have the ability to work full-time, 40+ hours per week. The hours for this position are Monday-Friday 5am-1:30pm. Due to the nature of our business and a heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive. Position Summary: Based in Huntington Park, CA the Blaster under general supervision, responsible for preparation and blasting of customer parts according to written requirements/specifications. This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and as such will perform duties in a safe and responsible manner to prevent customer loss or damage.
Requirements
- 1+ year of abrasive blasting, industrial blasting, metal finishing, or related experience preferred.
- Ability to safely operate abrasive blasting equipment.
- Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, drawings, and process specifications.
- Ability to identify and protect critical surfaces, dimensions, edges, bores, threads, and gear teeth.
- Ability to handle precision components without causing damage.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to perform repetitive physical work in a production environment.
- Ability to lift and move parts and materials safely within established requirements.
- Basic understanding of measuring and inspection requirements.
- Ability to maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Ability to follow PPE, respiratory protection, chemical safety, and environmental requirements.
- Must be able to work in a sitting position for extended periods of time (at desk, while driving, and/or on airplane travel) in an office/industrial environment
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop and reach to perform functions
- Ability to lift 25-30 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing and transporting customer parts for blasting.
- Operates sandblast and related equipment.
- Carefully places completed parts in proper containers for shipping or next step in process.
- Practices and promotes safety and good housekeeping.
- Brings any unusual problem or irregularity to the attention of supervisor.
- Performs other tasks as assigned or dictated by position.
- Must have the ability to report for work on time, follow directions, interact effectively with co-workers, understand and follow rules and procedures and accept constructive criticism
