About The Position

The Blaster Painter plays a critical role in preparing and finishing surfaces to ensure durability, aesthetic appeal, and protection against environmental factors. This position involves the application of abrasive blasting techniques to clean, smooth, or roughen surfaces, followed by the precise application of paint or coatings according to industry standards and safety regulations. The Blaster Painter must work closely with project managers and quality control teams to meet project specifications and deadlines while maintaining a safe work environment. Attention to detail and expertise in handling various materials and equipment are essential to achieve high-quality finishes that extend the lifespan of structures and components. Ultimately, this role contributes significantly to the maintenance and enhancement of infrastructure, machinery, and other assets across multiple industries within the United States.

Requirements

• 2 to 3 years offshore experience.
• Ability to apply coatings utilizing airless or conventional spray.
• Proven experience in abrasive blasting and industrial painting or coating application.
• Knowledge of safety standards related to blasting and painting operations, including proper use of PPE.
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents, such as work orders, safety data sheets, and coating specifications.
• Physical ability to perform manual labor, including lifting heavy equipment and working in various environmental conditions.
• Must be capable of working offshore in remote locations on a variety of rotational schedules.

Nice To Haves

• Certification in abrasive blasting or industrial painting (e.g., NACE or SSPC certifications).
• Experience working with specialized coatings such as epoxy, polyurethane, or zinc-rich primers.
• Familiarity with environmental regulations and waste disposal procedures related to blasting and painting.
• Basic mechanical skills for equipment maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Previous experience working in construction, manufacturing, or maritime industries.

Responsibilities

• Operate abrasive blasting equipment to prepare surfaces by removing rust, old paint, and other contaminants.
• Apply primers, paints, and protective coatings using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment in accordance with project specifications.
• Inspect surfaces before and after blasting and painting to ensure quality standards and adherence to safety protocols.
• Maintain and clean blasting and painting equipment regularly to ensure optimal performance and safety.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to plan work schedules, estimate material needs, and troubleshoot any issues during the blasting and painting process.
• Follow all safety guidelines and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize exposure to hazardous materials.
• Document work progress and report any discrepancies or concerns to management promptly.
