About The Position

This is an entry-level manufacturing position in the Paint department at the Solar Turbines Caterpillar facility in Wamego, Kansas. The Blaster/Paint Prep prepares products and parts for painting and blasting, assembles parts before and after painting, and verifies that finished work conforms to specifications. The role requires respirator certification to operate the blast booth and safe use of overhead lifting devices. The work takes place in a typical shop environment, with exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Visa sponsorship is not available. Employment offers are conditioned on successful completion of a drug screen.

Requirements

Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, blueprints, and manuals.
Ability to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms.
Ability to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
Ability to talk and hear occasionally.
Ability to occasionally lift or move up to 35 pounds.
Close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to focus.
Ability to obtain respirator certification to operate the blast booth.

Responsibilities

Prepare products for painting.
Prepare parts for blasting by covering or plugging machined surfaces and taped holes.
Prepare parts for painting by cleaning debris, taping off no-paint areas, and applying seam sealer or caulking.
Assemble parts before and after painting to final assembly.
Verify that finished work pieces conform to specifications.
Obtain respirator certification to operate the blast booth.
Safely use overhead lifting devices.
