About The Position

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world's largest suppliers of building materials. Heidelberg Materials North America operates over 450 locations across the U.S. and Canada with approximately 9,000 employees. This role operates primarily in an underground mine where the conditions include moving mechanical equipment and an elevated noise level. The work area is underground in a limestone mine with room opening heights of 27' tall.

Requirements

• Ability to handle and transport explosives safely.
• Strong understanding of safety protocols and regulations.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical capability to handle the demands of the job.
• Ability to work a variable and flexible schedule.
• Flexibility to work overtime and Saturdays as necessary.
• Willing to work up to 10-12 hrs/ day; 6 days/wk when req'd
• Must be punctual and have reliable transportation.
• Physical capability to handle the demands of the job including standing, sitting, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 75 pounds as when as other physical demands.
• Successful candidate must submit to post-offer pre-employment physical examination, drug/alcohol screen, and background check.
• Ability to pass a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms background check

Responsibilities

• Assist with the preparation and detonation of explosives.
• Work from a man basket at heights of 25' up to 50' performing hand scaling, markup and face loading activities.
• Use a variety of hand and power tools.
• Handle and transport explosives safely.
• Perform routine maintenance and inspections of blasting equipment.
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
• Support the blasting team with various tasks as needed.
