About The Position

This role involves operating sandblasting machines to prepare metal parts by removing scale, flux, corrosion, and dirt using high-velocity abrasives. The position also includes operating a forklift for material handling, using various hand, power, and pneumatic tools, and applying coatings (brush, spray, or dip) to parts. Coated parts are then baked in an oven to harden the finish and dried/cured according to specifications. The Blaster Coater is responsible for identifying and reporting defective parts and ensuring the work area is safe before starting tasks, while adhering to all safety regulations and company policies.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Safely operate powered industrial trucks (forklifts)
  • Accurately wear a respirator.
  • Ability to read and understand verbal and written instructions, specifications, blueprints, or sketches.
  • Operate hand tools, hoist/crane, power tools and pneumatic tools.
  • Self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable, upbeat, dependable, transparent, and detailed.
  • Quality conscious with the ability to meet efficiency goals.
  • Excellent communication skills including excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain a high level of ownership and accuracy on all work activities.
  • Ability to work in a positive manner with other associates within cell areas and develop and maintain strong working relationships across teams and subject areas.
  • Can adapt and operate within a high-performance culture.

Responsibilities

  • Operates sandblasting machines for removal of scale, flux, corrosion, and dirt from metal parts by use of abrasives made through a hose at high velocity by compressed air.
  • Use of a SAR respirator is required.
  • Operates powered industrial truck (forklift) to load and unload material.
  • Uses hand tools, hoist/crane, power tools and pneumatic tools as a process of job junction.
  • Brush paints, spray paints or dips a variety of parts or products in coating vehicles.
  • Use of half-mask respirator is required.
  • Bakes coated parts in oven to preheat workpieces, and to harden the finish.
  • Dries/cures parts in accordance with specifications.
  • Identifies and reports defective parts.
  • Pre inspect the work area for safety.
  • Observes and follows all safety regulations and company policies.
  • Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
  • Maintains a dedication to collaboration and a positive, encouraging demeanor towards all personnel.
  • Supports continuous improvement activities (VES).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
