About The Position

National Peening in Salem, VA, part of the Sinto America Group, is seeking a Blast Room Operator to join their team. Sinto America provides innovative solutions across various manufacturing segments, with its Surface Technologies division specializing in precision shot peening, blasting, and cleaning services through its National Peening and Technical Metal Finishing divisions.

Requirements

• Minimum of High School diploma and/or equivalent.
• Ability to read and write proficiently.
• Ability to perform basic math skills such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Ability to analyze and resolve basic problems.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

• Pressure washing, sand blasting, or paint booth experience
• Shot peening process experience
• Surface preparation and finishing techniques
• Equipment setup, adjustment and troubleshooting experience
• Knowledge of preventative maintenance and cleaning of machinery
• Mechanical aptitude

Responsibilities

• Perform operation of blast room elements including pressure pot, elevator screw auger assembly and controls for same.
• Trouble shoot operation problems with blast room.
• Wear special protective clothing including fresh air supplied enclosed helmet and cape, full coveralls, heavy leather long cuff welding gloves, steel toed leather work shoes, long pants and work shirt.
• Additional duties include pressure washing, assembly/disassembly of chassis dollies, burn off oven operation, peening machine operation as instructed.
