About The Position

We are delighted to announce that we are currently seeking applications for an experienced Shotfirer and MMU Operator to join one of our large Coal Operations teams in the North Bowen Basin! In this role, you will assist and provide direction, supervision, and guidance to the Blast Crew in the process of loading, tying, and firing large shots. You will also operate the MMU to pump the explosive product into pre-drilled blast holes on our customer site. This role will be Drive-in Drive-out (DIDO), operating mostly on 7 days on/7 days off rosters, and camp facilities will be provided for the duration of the roster. Requirements

  • Experience operating as a full shotfirer
  • Authorised iKon Shotfirer required, or prior experience working with iKon systems
  • Knowledge of explosives storage regulations and blasting procedures
  • A QLD Shotfirers Licence
  • Hold a current QLD Explosives Security Clearance
  • An impeccable safety record and commitment toward safety
  • An unquestionable attitude toward working safely as a priority
  • Experience operating an MMU, or similar blast delivery vehicle
  • A positive team-orientated work ethic
  • A positive attitude to customer service

Nice To Haves

  • Current HR licence (desirable but not essential)
  • Current HR Licence

Responsibilities

  • Providing operational blasting knowledge, direction and advice to Orica’s blast crews and associated stakeholders
  • Shotfiring duties including magazine management, managing the loading, tying and firing of blasts, following drill and blast designs
  • Working in tight unison with your teammates to provide excellence in service to our valued customers
  • Assisting with the training and mentoring of new team members
  • At all times acting with integrity and respect
  • Operating our MMU vehicle (Mobile Manufacturing Units) and other associated blasting plant and machinery
  • Assisting with preventative maintenance
  • Assisting with the 'hands-on' delivery of explosive products down pre-drilled blast holes on bench
  • Daily administration and customer interactions
