About The Position

We opened in December 2018, the Courtyard by Marriott Burlington is in Burlington/Oakville region features 135 guestrooms and suites with 1800 sq. ft of flexible meeting space, indoor salt-water pool, state-of-the-art fitness centre, and on-site Bistro Restaurant & Lounge.

Requirements

  • Smart Serve certified required
  • Ability to effectively deal with guest and employee concerns in a friendly and positive manner
  • General knowledge of food and food preparation techniques
  • Approachable, pleasant, polite, fast
  • Able to work various shifts, including weekends and public holidays
  • Self-starter and able to work with minimum supervision
  • Must be able to understand both oral and written English
  • Must be legally permitted to work in Canada

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience with Starbucks, Micros, banquets, catering and hotel is strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist with setting up the banquet rooms with tables, serving stations, or buffet tables for service
  • Serve food and beverages to guests in a timely and professional manner
  • Make recommendations and answer questions regarding the menu
  • Maintain cleanliness
  • Run food from the kitchen to the tables
  • Create a pleasant atmosphere for dining and entertainment
  • Clean up after events and aid in inventory
  • Taking accurate orders and partnering with team members to serve food and beverages that meet or exceed guests' expectations
  • Providing friendly and attentive service that makes guests feel well taken care of and builds their intent to return
  • Complete restaurant opening and closing duties including setting up necessary supplies and tools
  • Cleaning all equipment areas, locking equipment doors, etc.
  • Take orders from customers, input orders in micros, and obtain payment
  • Fulfilling orders to Courtyard Bistro standards
  • Prepare food, coffee and other beverages
  • Work in all F&B areas, including busing, cleaning and resetting tables
  • Assist with preparation and serving events/banquets
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned
  • Deal with guest requests in a courteous, prompt, and professional manner
  • Work and communicate in a professional and ethical manner with colleagues assisting where necessary to develop team spirit and to achieve standards of work and guest care as required by Hotel policy
  • Maintain standards of punctuality, uniform and personal hygiene as required by Hotel policy
