About The Position

The Cafe Attendant is responsible for the proper preparation of specialty beverages, gourmet teas, and ensuring the quality and safety of food for customers in Java City. This role involves following specific procedures for coffee preparation, utilizing standard recipes and ingredient control, and preparing food to ensure maximum freshness. Proper food rotation (first in, first out), safe food storage, and handling to prevent cross-contamination are critical. The attendant must also maintain a clean and safe work environment by following daily and weekly equipment maintenance and cleaning schedules, properly breaking down, cleaning, and setting up equipment, recognizing and adhering to chemical safety guidelines, understanding hospital emergency plans, keeping floors clear of debris, maintaining sanitized towels, and keeping tables and chairs clean and organized. Additionally, the role requires adherence to established side-work guidelines and proper cash handling procedures, including accuracy and politeness at the register, and accountability for register overages and shortages. The Cafe Attendant is also expected to follow good guest relations guidelines, working closely with fellow attendants to provide excellent service, following the AIDET policy, and treating all associates, managers, visitors, and patients with courtesy and respect, while accommodating special guest needs and requests.

Requirements

Good communication skills
Ability to work in a fast paced environment
Reading, writing, mathematical computation such as those normally acquired with high school or equivalent
Ability to speak English sufficiently to perform job responsibilities
Able to work a cash register

Nice To Haves

High School Diploma or equivalent preffered
One year previous cash handling experience preferred
Previous food service experience preferred
Previous Barrista experience preferred

Responsibilities

Follow proper coffee procedures
Utilize standard recipes and ingredient control
Follow proper preparation procedures
Prepare foods to ensure the freshest possible product to our customers
Proper food rotation (first in, first out method)
Safe food storage and handling – no cross contamination; label & date all food items
Follow daily and weekly maintenance of the equipment and cleaning schedules according to established guidelines
Break down, clean, and set-up equipment properly as demonstrated through training
Recognize and identify proper chemicals, while adhering to label warnings and MSDS instructions
Understand and adhere to the hospital emergency plans
Keep floors free of debris
Keep towels in sanitized water
Keep table and chairs clean and organized
Follow established side-work guidelines
Cashier will be held accountable for register overages and shortages
Must be polite to the customers, while being accurate and quick at the registers
Work closely with fellow Cafe Attendants to give great services to our customers
Follow AIDET policy
Treat fellow associates, managers, visitors, and patients with courtesy & respect
Accommodate guest’s special needs and request
