About The Position

Obtains information for birth and death certificates reporting and prepares the certificate in accordance with state Vital Statistics rules and regulations. Collects statistics for reporting, e.g. mortality.

Requirements

  • High School diploma/GED or 10 years of work experience
  • Two years' experience
  • Experience with EHR preferred
  • Proficient computer skills
  • Excellent customer service skills

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and abstracts information regarding births/deaths to assist in completion of reporting to the State Department of Vital Statistics.
  • Prepares and electronically submits required reporting information to the State's database.
  • Answers phone calls and welcomes visitors inquiring about birth certificate processing while observing confidentiality and providing information to all patients following departmental, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and regulatory requirements in order to obtain optimal patient and customer satisfaction.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
