About The Position

This position is responsible for the collection of all biotechnology samples for the genetic gain of pedigree chickens. Other duties may be assigned. The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid contact with any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.

Requirements

Must have valid driver’s license.
Applicants must have no disciplinary actions within the last 6 months, a point level
The successful candidate(s) must be willing and able to perform the physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

Collect blood samples from Pedigree birds to monitor bird health and diseases (25%)
Cleans and sanitizes sampling and blood testing instruments (15%)
Perform simple math as part of recording information according to instructions for sampling of pedigree chickens (50%)
Move birds as required to other houses per house schedule
Clean and disinfect the equipment and vehicles used in moving birds, supplies, or equipment on the farm
Help laundry staff as needed
Properly euthanize weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy
Off-farm shopping for supplies
May travel to various farms for training and implementation of procedures when studies are being done with duration of 1 week at a time may be expected (10%)
