About The Position

The Biostatistics Core in the College of Nursing of University of South Florida is seeking a motivated Entry-Level Biostatistician to support statistical analysis and study design for research projects across biomedical, clinical, behavioral, and public health disciplines. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate to gain hands-on experience collaborating with investigators, contributing to grant applications, and applying statistical methods to real-world research questions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, Epidemiology, or a related field and a minimum of two years of professional experience; or a master's degree in one of the same fields.
  • Four years of direct experience for a bachelor’s degree (as per Senate Bill 1310)
  • Must meet all employment eligibility requirements in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework or experience in biomedical, clinical, or public health research
  • Experience with data visualization tools
  • Familiarity with clinical trial design and survival analysis
  • Experience with longitudinal data and repeated measures analysis
  • Prior internship, practicum, or research assistantship experience, including data coordination for multi-site studies
  • Strong programming skills in at least one statistical or data science software (e.g., R, SAS, or Python)
  • Strong foundation in statistical methods (e.g., regression, hypothesis testing, ANOVA)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the design of research studies, including sample size and power calculations
  • Perform statistical analyses on clinical, epidemiological, and biomedical datasets
  • Clean, manage, and validate research data using statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, or Stata)
  • Prepare tables, figures, and written summaries of statistical results for manuscripts, reports, and grant proposals
  • Collaborate with investigators, research coordinators, and other Core staff to understand study objectives and data needs
  • Support the development of statistical analysis plans (SAPs) and data analysis sections of IRB protocols
  • Serve as data coordinator for large clinical/research trials, overseeing data collection workflows, database structure, and data quality across study sites
  • Maintain clear documentation of analytic methods and code for reproducibility
  • Participate in Core meetings and ongoing professional development activities
