About The Position

Aptive Resources is seeking a Junior Biomedical Technician to support to the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Office of Healthcare Technology Management (HTM). This role provides hands-on technical support for medical and telehealth equipment used to deliver care to Veterans across a distributed healthcare network. Working under the guidance of senior engineers and program leadership, the technician will assist in ensuring that medical devices and telehealth systems are properly installed, maintained, and functioning safely and effectively to support clinical operations and virtual care delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field (or equivalent technical training/certification)
  • 5+ years of experience supporting biomedical equipment, medical devices, or healthcare technology systems (internship experience may be considered)
  • Basic knowledge of medical device operation, maintenance, and safety practices
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues related to hardware, software, or network-connected devices
  • Familiarity with tools, test equipment, and standard procedures used in biomedical equipment maintenance
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document maintenance activities, repairs, and system configurations
  • Ability to follow established procedures, technical manuals, and safety protocols
  • Basic understanding of computer systems, networking fundamentals, and cybersecurity awareness as it relates to medical devices
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and respond to technical support needs in a timely manner
  • Willingness and ability to travel to support equipment at various healthcare sites, as needed
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  • Experience with medical device integration, connectivity, or interoperability in clinical settings
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations and standards (e.g., Joint Commission, FDA guidance, basic HIPAA awareness)
  • Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance programs, asset tracking systems, or computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Basic understanding of networking protocols, wireless technologies, or cybersecurity practices for connected medical devices
  • Experience working in a hospital, clinic, or healthcare delivery environment supporting clinical equipment
  • Industry certifications (e.g., CBET – Certified Biomedical Equipment Technician) or progress toward certification
  • Demonstrated initiative and willingness to learn new technologies in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the installation, configuration, testing, and maintenance of biomedical and telehealth equipment
  • Troubleshooting technical issues
  • Supporting routine inspections and preventive maintenance activities
  • Documenting system configurations, maintenance activities, and issue resolution
  • Ensuring compliance with safety, regulatory, and cybersecurity requirements
  • Coordinating with clinical staff, IT teams, and vendors to support equipment readiness and operational continuity
  • Contributing to inventory management and lifecycle tracking of medical devices across supported sites
