About The Position

This role is for a Research Analyst within the Vanderbilt Clinical Informatics Center (VCLIC) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. The analyst will support various research projects, particularly those related to funded grants on Value Sets. Key responsibilities include project coordination, literature reviews, chart reviews, basic data analysis, summarizing findings, assisting with grant reporting, editing manuscripts, drafting IRB materials, and supporting other VCLIC activities. The position requires flexibility, adaptability, and a self-starting attitude. The role offers significant learning opportunities in clinical informatics, AI in healthcare, and research methodologies, with potential for managing small projects, conference presentations, and manuscript publications. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) and an interest in healthcare and the use of technology to support clinical care.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with project coordination and other research-related tasks for various projects related to funded grant on Value Sets.
  • Schedule meetings or interviews with research subjects.
  • Perform literature reviews, chart reviews, and some basic data analysis.
  • Summarize and present findings both in writing and orally.
  • Help with grant and other reporting requirements.
  • Edit and sometimes draft manuscripts for publication.
  • Draft IRB materials.
  • Help coordinate new grant submissions.
  • Help with other VCLIC activities as needed (event prep and execution, newsletter curation, schedule and CV management for the PI, Adam Wright, and other tasks as needed).
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate data from a variety of sources including the electronic health record and interviews with study subjects using both quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Use Excel and REDCap to assist in data collection efforts, database development, and descriptive data analysis.
  • Develop forms and questionnaires to collect the appropriate data.
  • Retrieve journal articles; Maintain a bibliographic library of supporting material; Stay abreast of trends in clinical informatics.
  • Help with the preparation of talks and presentation materials including PowerPoint slides, tables, figures, and posters.
  • Conduct analysis and write reports summarizing progress, trends, and conclusions related to research and Center-sponsored projects and activities.
  • Present study concepts and synthesized progress in group settings.
  • Edit, prepare, and submit formal research reports and manuscripts for publication in journals and conferences.
  • Prepare Institutional Review Board (IRB) documentation and forms for study protocol approvals and amendments.
  • Manage project timelines and meeting deadlines; keeping projects on track.
  • Perform a variety of administrative support which may include correspondence, calendar/meeting scheduling, mail processing, printing, organizing materials, taking meeting minutes and documenting project work.
  • Create informational materials related to research or Center priorities for dissemination to participants, center members, researchers, or the community.
  • Support day to day activities of the team.
  • Update faculty members’ curricula vitae.
  • Prepare biosketches, letters of support, and other grant submission-related documents.
