Provides Planned Maintenance (PM), safety testing, repairs, calibration, installation, routine and emergency service to general and various specialized diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment, as assigned by the Clinical Engineering (CE) Manager. This role involves performing PM procedures on multiple types of general and specialized clinical equipment, using manufacturer’s recommendations, standards, or code requirements. The technician will also perform corrective maintenance, diagnose problems using various scientific principles, and document all activities to comply with regulatory and standard requirements. Interaction with clinical staff to resolve operational problems and minimize departmental interference is key. The role requires determining the need for replacement parts, selecting cost-effective sources, and completing work order documentation. Teamwork, continuous process improvement, and maintaining a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations are essential. The technician will provide on-call service coverage, assist and train other technicians, and may be assigned duties as Lead Bio-Medical Equipment Technician.
