About The Position

The Biomedical Equipment Technician 2 at GE Healthcare is responsible for performing basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of biomedical equipment and systems, ensuring their proper functionality and compliance with safety standards within a healthcare environment. This position will have service at Memorial University Medical Center in Savannah GA.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, or a related technical field, or equivalent military training.
  • 4-8 years of experience in the maintenance and repair of biomedical equipment, preferably in a hospital or clinical setting.
  • Basic understanding of electronics, electrical safety, and biomedical equipment principles.
  • Proficiency in using basic hand tools and test equipment (e.g., multimeters, oscilloscopes).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with colleagues and healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and move equipment (up to 50 lbs) and stand for extended periods.
  • Valid driver's license may be required for travel to various client sites.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.
  • The successful applicant must comply with GEHC's standard background check, including a post-offer drug test. In addition, during employment, the employee must comply with all customer access policies, including but not limited to obtaining and/or providing proof of required immunizations, and additional drug tests or background checks (including a federal government background check if assigned to support a contract with the federal government).

Responsibilities

  • Execute routine preventive maintenance on a variety of biomedical equipment according to established schedules and procedures.
  • Perform basic diagnostic testing and troubleshooting to identify and resolve equipment malfunctions.
  • Repair and replace faulty components, modules, and parts in biomedical devices under supervision.
  • Conduct electrical safety inspections and performance verification tests on medical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including work performed, parts used, and equipment status.
  • Mentor and lead other B-Met 1's with more complex repairs and installations.
  • Adhere to all GE Medical Systems Information Technologies, Inc. and healthcare facility safety protocols and regulatory guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with clinical staff regarding equipment status and repair timelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with technology advancements.
  • Manage and organize tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory.
