About The Position

Heartline Staffing, in partnership with Purple Cow Recruiting, is seeking an experienced Biomedical Equipment Specialist specializing in sterilizer systems for a field-based opportunity supporting healthcare facilities throughout the Boston and New Hampshire region. This is a senior-level Healthcare Technology Management opportunity for a highly experienced biomedical professional who can function as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and modality expert for sterilizer systems. The specialist will independently troubleshoot, repair, maintain, and support advanced clinical equipment across multiple healthcare facilities while ensuring equipment meets manufacturer and regulatory standards. The Biomedical Equipment Specialist serves as a regional technical leader with advanced expertise in sterilizer systems and additional high-end healthcare technology. This position requires the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, make technical decisions, manage a complex clinical equipment inventory, and communicate effectively with healthcare facility leadership. The ideal candidate has significant hands-on experience maintaining and repairing hospital sterilization equipment, formal OEM training on Steris and/or Getinge equipment, and a minimum of seven years of healthcare technology repair experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 7 Years of Electronic, Mechanical, or Electro-Mechanical Repair Experience in a Healthcare Technology Environment REQUIRED

  • Hands-On Sterilizer Maintenance and Repair Experience to Manufacturer Standards REQUIRED
  • OEM Training on Steris and/or Getinge Equipment REQUIRED

  • Ability to Independently Troubleshoot Complex Clinical Equipment REQUIRED
  • Healthcare Technology Management / Clinical Engineering Experience REQUIRED
  • Strong Electronic Troubleshooting Experience REQUIRED
  • Strong Mechanical Troubleshooting Experience REQUIRED
  • Strong Electro-Mechanical Troubleshooting Experience REQUIRED

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electronic Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Related Discipline OR Equivalent Healthcare Technology Equipment Repair Experience REQUIRED

Nice To Haves

  • Formal OEM training on Steris and/or Getinge equipment is required. Candidates should be prepared to discuss specific factory training, certifications, equipment models, and the sterilizer systems they have personally serviced.
  • Advanced Healthcare Technology Experience: In addition to sterilizer expertise, this role requires broad experience repairing and maintaining advanced clinical equipment. Relevant healthcare technology modalities may include: Clinical Laboratory Equipment, Medical Imaging Systems, Radiation / Oncology Equipment, Real-Time Location Systems (RTLS), Alarm Management Systems, Middleware, Device Integration / Networking, Catheterization Lab Equipment, Electrophysiology Monitoring Systems, Other High-End Biomedical / Clinical Devices.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as Subject Matter Expert and modality expert for sterilizer systems
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain sterilizer systems to manufacturer standards
  • Support sterilizers and advanced clinical equipment across multiple healthcare facilities
  • Independently diagnose electronic, mechanical, and electro-mechanical equipment failures
  • Perform preventive maintenance on advanced clinical equipment
  • Calibrate, validate, and return equipment safely to clinical service
  • Ensure sterilizer performance meets manufacturer and applicable regulatory standards
  • Maintain and manage advanced clinical equipment inventories
  • Develop maintenance strategies that support clinical and operational goals
  • Collaborate directly with healthcare facility leadership
  • Maintain accurate service documentation, records, and reports
  • Communicate maintenance plans, equipment status, and service outcomes
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance throughout the assigned region
  • Share specialized sterilizer knowledge with BMET personnel and other technical teams
  • May provide dotted-line technical guidance to Biomedical Equipment Technicians
  • Plan and organize field-service activities across multiple healthcare facilities
  • Operate independently with minimal supervision
