About The Position

The Biomed Technician is responsible for the delivery, setup, troubleshooting, and maintenance of all dialysis machines and water treatment systems. This role supports the mission, core values, and customer service of Home Dialysis Services & Dialysis Care Center, LLC (HDS/DCC) and adheres to their policies, procedures, and compliance program, including all state and federal regulatory requirements.

Requirements

Must be PC proficient and able to thrive in a fast-paced setting.
Experience in Microsoft Office Suite: Outlook, Word, and Excel is a must.
Good presentation and communication skills.
Must be productive and resourceful with the ability to meet deadlines.
Must be a self-starter who can work independently yet function in a highly collaborative, fast-paced team environment.
Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines effectively.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Must be able to lift 30 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

Delivery and setup of dialysis machines and water treatment systems.
Tracking all equipment by creating a log with serial numbers.
Coordinating with nurses and technicians for assistance with scheduled programming.
Repairing and maintaining dialysis machines and R.O. water systems, and providing support documentation.
Performing electrical safety assurance and performance testing on all dialysis machines and related electrical equipment.
Monitoring the R.O. system and log sheet monthly for completeness and accuracy, noting any deviations.
Performing monthly biomedical audits and documenting findings to ensure staff adherence to company policies.
Participating in on-site ESRD surveys and inspections by state and federal surveyors when notified.
Participating and presenting as a member of each facility’s Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI).
Completing the Biomed section of the QAPI log.
Ordering and maintaining appropriate parts inventory for all equipment serviced.
Assisting with stocking and arranging treatment supplies in the stock room.
Discussing equipment maintenance problems with the CNM, CAA, and Regional Biomed Lead.
Complying with company policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations for patient care and services (CMS, HIPAA, OSHA, and other governing agencies).
Monitoring vital signs (temperature, pulse, etc.) and patient condition, and documenting observations appropriately.
Taking fluid samples or other specimens for testing and preparing them for shipping.
Assisting nursing staff in administering basic treatments, e.g., hemodialysis therapy.
Monitoring and documenting patient status and instructing patients in vascular accesses, etc., under the direction of the RN.
Reviewing lab work and physician orders and reinforcing treatment care with the patient.
Entering appropriate ICD-9 codes for lab draws into the computer.
Performing basic nursing procedures (e.g., changing bandages).
Performing other duties as assigned.
Supporting the values and customer service standards of HDS/DCC.
Being accountable for outstanding customer service to all staff, clients, and vendors.
Developing and maintaining effective relationships through effective and timely communication.
Initiating action to respond, resolve, and follow up regarding customer service issues with all customers in a timely manner.
