About The Position

Qualified candidates for this position might have any of the following job titles/duties/responsibilities: Biomed Tech III/Biomed Tech 3/BMET III/BMET 3, Biomedical Engineer III/Biomedical Engineer 3, Clinical Engineering III/Clinical Engineering 3, OR Technician/Operating Room Technician, HTM (Health Technology Management), Repair Technician. This position is located at Sherman hospital in Elgin, IL. It is a full-time, day shift role with typical hours of Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm, which are somewhat negotiable.

Requirements

  • Understanding of human anatomy and physiology with a basic understanding of Medical Terminology.
  • Associate’s degree in electronics, computer or biomedical equipment technology with 5 years equivalent healthcare experience, OR 7 years comparable hospital experience working on multiple medical equipment and systems with demonstrated expertise in scheduled and corrective maintenance.
  • Excellent communication skills to discuss equipment function with both patients and equipment users (clinical staff).
  • Effective computer skills to: 1.analyze work efforts 2.observe equipment trends 3.run basic reports 4.use Microsoft® products 5.perform research on the web
  • Ability to specify and use electronic test equipment and phantoms to troubleshoot and repair.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent soldering technique
  • Manual dexterity to effectively use hand tools.
  • Must be able to read and interpret technical documentation.
  • Proficient at scheduled and corrective maintenance on a wide variety of medical devices with advanced skills on one or more specific devices.
  • Valid Driver’s License with the state of Illinois.

Nice To Haves

  • CompTIA A+ certification preferred.
