About The Position

BJC HealthCare is hiring a Biomed I to provide onsite support to its Medical Group, with travel required. The role is part of Clinical Engineering, whose mission is to improve patient care through equipment planning and support technologies. The Clinical Engineering team provides operational support and maintenance management for diagnostic, treatment, and patient-support technologies, including planned and corrective maintenance, operational support for functions using medical technology, support for Risk Management and Environmental Health and Safety, technology asset management, maintenance contract management, and capital project planning and management.

The Biomedical Technician performs performance assurance inspections and installs, tests, calibrates, troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs medical instrumentation, devices, and systems. The position also provides in-service education and customer service to staff regarding equipment operation and safety.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• No experience required.
• No supervisor experience required.
• Biomedical license or certification is listed under Licenses & Certifications.

Nice To Haves

• Associate’s degree in engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field.
• Less than two years of experience.
• Less than two years of supervisor experience.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance, performance assurance testing, and electrical safety inspections; schedule repairs to correct failed equipment.
• Repair and calibrate equipment and devices to meet original manufacturers’ specifications.
• Analyze symptoms, define problems, compare options, identify and implement appropriate solutions, evaluate results, and troubleshoot as necessary.
• Provide in-service education and customer service to staff on equipment operation and safety.
