Since 1987, ARCCA has assisted clients with technical and scientific challenges and litigation issues, providing Forensic Engineering, Expert Witness Testimony, Sports Biomechanics & Human Performance, and Research, Development, Testing & Evaluation services. The Biomechanist/Biomechanical Engineer plays a key role within a multidisciplinary team, reconstructing injury-producing incidents and other events to evaluate and determine mechanisms of injury. This position is ideal for an accomplished expert with an advanced degree (Ph.D.) seeking career growth in forensic analysis, who values collaboration, client engagement, and delivering high-quality work.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Biomedical or Biomechanical Engineering, required.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant experience, required.
  • Ability to participate in depositions and provide expert testimony when required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, along with strong interpersonal communication abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong foundation in the analysis of occupant motion, human anatomy, impact effects, and inertial forces related to occupant injury, preferred.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D computer analysis programs for object motion, with a willingness to learn additional programs for vehicle and occupant kinematic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field investigations to gather and analyze vehicle crash, slip/trip and fall, or mechanical failure data and the related impact on the human body.
  • Review supporting medical and hospital records.
  • Calculate principal directions of force, and changes in velocity during a crash event as well as making determinations as to the amount of force required to cause and prevent certain types of injuries.
  • Conduct or assist with conducting various types of static and dynamic tests.
  • Prepare clear, well-documented reports of scientific findings and conclusions that can be understood by non-technical audiences and supported through testimony during depositions and trials.
  • Prepare and deliver technical and educational presentations to existing and prospective clients, as well as at technical conferences.
  • Continuously enhance professional and technical expertise through continuing education programs, reviewing technical publications, and contributing to the preparation of technical papers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
