About The Position
This is a student worker position in the Biology Lab at the College of DuPage. The assistant will be responsible for preparing lab setups, cleaning and storing glassware and chemicals, preparing media and inoculations for microbiology, and maintaining cadavers. This role requires enrollment in college courses, a minimum GPA, and some science-related experience or major.
Requirements
- Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours for Fall/Spring semester or 1 credit hour for Summer semester.
- Cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. If a first semester student, GPA requirement is waived.
- College level biology or chemistry courses is required.
- Must be able to follow instructions of chemical preparation required.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Work experience in the science area or a science major is required.

- If a Student qualifies for Federal Work Study, the Student will be hired as a Federal Work Study employee to utilize these funds.
Responsibilities
- Assist in biology labs to prepare set-ups, cleaning and storage of glassware and chemicals used by students.
- Prepare chemicals and lab set ups as directed.
- Prepare media, inoculations for microbiology.
- Clean and maintain glassware, 8 labs and two prep areas.
- Help maintain cadavers.
Benefits
- Student Rate 1 - $15.00 per hour
