About The Position

Northern Essex Community College (NECC) serves approximately 5,000 credit students each semester across two campuses in the Merrimack Valley region of northeast Massachusetts. Requirements

A Master's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with college-level biology teaching experience
Demonstrated ability to teach within, and contribute positively to, a diverse, multi-ethnic, multi-cultural student population and campus environment
Demonstrated sensitivity to and high expectations of academically disadvantaged students
Knowledge of pedagogy of biology learning
Good interpersonal skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to demonstrate his/her ability and willingness to be involved in curriculum design and professional development in the area of biology instruction.
Experienced with the use of technology in the classroom and have experience with multiple forms of course deliveries through LMS.

Responsibilities

Teach biology courses at various levels and modalities, with an emphasis on Anatomy & Physiology and Physiological Chemistry.
Participate actively in departmental meetings and collaborative activities.
Deliver assigned courses on NECC's Haverhill and Lawrence campuses.
Attend division meetings and other required gatherings.
Contribute to college service and curriculum enhancement, including the development of online and hybrid courses.
Serve as an academic advisor to assigned students.
Provide student advising and maintain regular office hours.
Foster a collegial and professional team environment.
Demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
