About The Position

SUNY Sullivan is seeking a full-time, tenure-track Biology Faculty member. This role involves teaching lecture and laboratory sections of General Biology, Microbiology, Human Anatomy & Physiology, and Nutrition courses. The position also includes participation in curriculum development and review, and service on college-wide committees. A commitment to the community college philosophy and a collegial work environment are preferred. The anticipated start date is Fall 2026, and courses will be taught on campus.

Requirements

  • Master's degree required.
  • At least 3 years of teaching or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to teach various modalities.
  • Experience with learning management systems such as Brightspace.

Nice To Haves

  • Ph.D. preferred.
  • Experience in higher education.
  • Community college experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the community college philosophy.
  • Willing to work in a collegial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Teach a half load of 15 contact hours in Fall Semester and 15 contact hours in Spring Semester of general biology, microbiology, human anatomy and physiology and nutrition courses, as well as potential additional courses related to the applicant's area of professional expertise.
  • Revise and develop curriculum.
  • Prepare and present a course syllabus based on the agreed-upon curriculum and department standards.
  • Working with the Communications Department, develop program information for recruitment and other purposes.
  • Advise minimum number of students required by Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Establish assessment criteria and track/manage accreditation standard requirements.
  • Evaluate and assess students on the course learning outcomes.
  • Provide advisory services for students seeking extra help and career guidance through weekly office hours.
  • Develop and follow clear and transparent grading practices.
  • Timely submission of requested grades, attendance records, and academic paperwork by posted deadlines.
  • Perform other appropriate activities as assigned by the Chair, Director, Dean, and/or Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs.
