About The Position

The Animal Caretaker is responsible for caring for a variety of animals which may include rodents, fish, frogs, birds, and possibly more. The work includes feeding, cleaning, monitoring animal health, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, attentive to detail, and comfortable working with a variety of animals.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work most weekdays and at least one weekend day per week
  • Must be able to work independently and complete assigned tasks without supervision
  • Ability to communicate well with others
  • Must be responsible and dependable
  • Must be a current student at Bethel University
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and routinely lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use small step ladders to perform work
  • Ability to work with hands in water to perform cleaning and work in aquaria
  • Close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus, with or without corrective lenses

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with animals (personal, volunteer, or professional)
