About The Position

Falmouth High School is seeking a Biology and Chemistry Teacher for the 2026-2027 School Year. This position requires a teacher who can effectively teach all levels of high school science and motivate students with varying abilities. The role involves developing curriculum, designing and implementing instructional strategies, assessing student progress, and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Massachusetts dual licensure Biology, 8-12, and Chemistry, 8-12, required
  • Bachelors from an accredited college or university in education discipline applicable to teaching assignment, required
  • Demonstrated ability to teach all levels of high school science
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully motivating students of varying ability levels, skills, and readiness

  • Master’s Degree, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Develop curricular objectives and implementation strategies in alignment with state learning standards.
  • Design, implement, and revise curricular units and develop clear grading rubrics.
  • Develop daily and long-range plans relating instruction to student needs, curricular objectives, and state learning standards.
  • Advance excellence and equity through instructional practices meeting the needs of advanced students, multilingual learners, and students with 504 plans or special education services.
  • Implement a variety of instructional techniques to ensure student engagement, growth, and achievement.
  • Keep accurate grading and attendance records.
  • Develop effective relationships with students.
  • Evaluate each student's progress in science skills, knowledge, and understanding.
  • Routinely communicate with students, families, colleagues, counselors, and administrators regarding student progress.
  • Establish and maintain standards of student behavior.
  • Employ classroom management strategies to create a safe and supportive learning environment.
  • Accept supervision and guidance from the Department Head and Principal.
  • Attend professional meetings as required and scheduled.
  • Serve on committees for curriculum revision and school operation.
  • Continue professional growth by attending meetings, seminars, courses, and other endorsed professional learning.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal and/or Department Head.
